Why 'Kadal' Failed?


It was a big shock to know that Maniratnam's Kadal Failed at Box-office. The film had high demand and expectations both from audience producers before it's release. But why ‘kadal' failed? Here are some reasons.

1. "Nenjukkulley" song
This song become huge hit even before the films release. The song even made 'unknown' singer Saktishree Gopalan popular. The expectations were high to see its video clip. But director Maniratnam made it as background song. When audience watches the movie it was a great disappointment because the song was used as a background song only.
Several years back "Taxi Taxi' song become huge it before the release of ‘Sakarakathi’.Then the movie crew re-shoots the whole song once gains. And the movie achieved an average success at box-office.

2.Gautham Karthik and Tulasi Nair

They two make a cute couple but very much younger for this script. Maniratnam should find at least a replacement for Tulasi's role. How can, a mentally ill young girl can conduct delivery?  


3. Bible oriented subject
This is a script of good versus evil according to Bible. So the movie fails to impress non-Christian audience.
Maniratnam has a habit of making epics and real stories as his movies and he is very good at that. Ramayana (Raavanan), Mahabaratha (Thalapathi), Roja ( Sathiavan Savitri) , Iruvar ( a former actor and politicians real story ) , and Guru ( a business man's success story ) achieved at box-office  because people widely has general idea about it.
